Leadership Tip of the Week
Seize the Rest of the Year -
Your Blueprint to Higher Health, Wealth, Joy and Results!

We are finishing out our "SOAR" framework to finish this year strong!

We have been sharing this framework through August as a helpful tool to help you crush the rest of the year.

A quick recap:

  • "S" = Stacking your "WHYS", when you do this exercise, you have a stronger foundation to reaching your goals, best place to start!
  • "O" = Optimizing your habits, we shared the 5 by 50 method to increase your productivity and performance by 30%.
  • "A" = ACTIVATE the plan.  Having a solid plan is essential to getting to your goals.  We shared 4 tips from that by gaining clarity on your top 3 priorities, identifying high-value tasks related to them, and managing your calendar effectively, you'll make signficant progress towards your goals.

The "R" of our framework is -

Reflective Recharge for RESULTS:

How to Reflect, Reevaluate, and Recharge in the Midst of Big Goals

In the fast-paced world, business and high-stakes careers, it's eay to get lost in the grind.  After stacking your whys, optimizing your habits, and activating your plan, your goals are set in high gear.  But what happens when the initial energy begins to wane?  When burnout starts creeping in?

Reflecting on my own experiences, I've learned the importance of stepping back to reflect, reevaluate, and recharge.  This process not only helps sustain momentum but also enhances the quality of your work.  Taking the time for these steps will no doubt actually increase the advancement of your goals.

Here's how you can incorporate these vital strategies into your routine.

The Importance of Reflection

A few years ago, I was deeply engrossed in a major project that required long hours and relentless focus.  I pushed myself to the limit, thinking that non-stop work was the path to success.  It wasn't long before I hit a wall of burnout.  My mental clarity was foggy, my energy depleted, and my work quality suffered.

It was during this low point that I realized the importance of stepping back.  By taking time to reflect, I gained mental clarity on the best next steps and refreshed my energy levels.  The subsequent improvement in my work was remarkable.  When we give ourselves space to think, let our minds wander and reenergize, we gain so much clarity on what the next steps are to take in any situation.

Reevaluating Your Progress

Weekly Evaluation: After you've stacked your whys and activated your plan, it's crucial to have a strategy for actively evaluating your results.  Take time each week, at the same time, to track your analytics, outcomes, and overall progress.  Here's how you can do this:

  • Track your Analytics:
    • Use tools and dashboards to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Pay attention to trends and patterns in your data.
  • Assess Results and Outcomes:
    • Compare your current performance to your initial goals.
    • Identify areas where you are excelling and areas needing improvement.
  • Make Necessary Adjustments:
    • Based on your assessment, tweak your strategies.
    • Stay flexible and open to change.

Bonus recommendation if you oversee a team:

Implement reflection sessions with your team.  These sessions will become a platform for open discussions about your progress, challenges, and successes.  The result?  A significant boost in productivity and morale.  Team members will feel heard and valued, and collectively, you will make better-informed decisions.

The Power of Recharging

Stepping Away: It's essential to step away from your work periodically to gain clarity.  Taking regular breaks, especially during intense projects, can prevent burnout and maintain high performance.  Here's how you can recharge effectively (I know I talk about this a lot, but it is a huge piece many leaders miss, they never stop realizing that slowing down actually helps you to speed up on our outcomes!)

  • Schedule Breaks:
    • Block out time in your calendar for short breaks throughout the day.
    • Use this time to decompress, stretch, or take a walk.
  • Schedule in Refreshing Activities:
    • Pursue hobbies or activities that rejuvenate you.
    • Spend quality time with family and friends.
  • Plan Getaways:
    • Schedule longer breaks, like weekend getaways or vacations, to fully disconnect and recharge.  Make a decision on how many times you will get away and how often, then schedule them in.

Setting aside dedicated time for reflection and reevaluation has become a non-negotiable part of my routine.  These moments allow me to reassess my direction, adjust my strategies, and return with renewed focus and energy.

In the pursuit of big goals, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle.  Success isn't just about relentless effort.  It's also about smart strategies, including taking your time to reflect, reevaluate, and recharge.  These practices not only sustain your drive but also evaluate the quality of your work.

Take a moment right now to plan your own reflective recharge routine.  Your future self - and your work - will thank you.

Ready to integrate reflective recharges into your routine?  Book a consultation and we will tailor a plan that fits your unique needs.  Stay ahead, stay energized, and keep achieving your big goals!

Why You Should Make a Mood Board

It's that time of year again where new beginnings are on the horizon.  Even if you've been out of school for years, even decades, a wave of "back to school" hits us every late August.  It's an opportunity for us to evaluate what we've done so far, and refine for the last few months of the year.  Often times, I find myself enjoying the annual "back to school" feeling, more than the fresh start to a New Year.  Why?  There's something about having 8 months behind us to reflect on who we've become as people, what we've accomplished professionally and personally, and how we're going to propel forwards to become even more successful.  You've already had amazing momentum and want to finish the year strong.  So, how do we keep on track and create a fun reminder for ourselves to continue accomplishing our goals?  We mood board!

A mood board much like a journal can be up for interpretation.  It can be as big or as small as you'd like, and include as many or as little things on it.

Here's how you can get started:

  • Choose your base; a poster board, a piece of paper, a thrifted piece of artwork
  • Begin clipping and gathering anything that appeals to you.  Whether it's from magazines, leaves outside, newspapers or wrapping paper, anything will work, this is YOUR mood board!
  • Begin pasting your findings to the board using a variety of decorative tapes and glues
  • Don't ever feel pressure to "complete" your mood board!  A mood board is a constant work in progress, a direct parallel to our lives.  Your mood board can evolve with new ideas and can even take different shape as you redirect your thoughts and change your mind.  There is no wrong answer!

Why you should make a mood board:

  • It's easy to feel swayed and lose sight of our visions in the day to day noise.  When we create a mood board for ourselves, we're providing visual clarity and affirmation to our goals and dreams.
  • Utilizing a mood board to display your values and beliefs for yourself professionally is a great way to keep yourself on track regarding your brand identity.
  • Mood boards are highly inspirational!  With different colors, textures, fonts and more, a mood board can inspire ideas and new thoughts.  It can be challenging to conceptualize all our thoughts and considerations when we're holding onto them in our heads.  When we allow these ideas to come to life with some visual aid, we are bound to see new potential that may not have been highlighted otherwise.

To ensure we finish 2024 strong, this is a perfect time to reset and use that "back to school" mindset to our advantage!  Start collecting different visuals that are appealing and see where it takes you!

What's New @ Modwellship

We all know how important breakfast is for the whole family.  It's necessary fuel to get our minds and bodies going.  With the littles going back to school, shifting back into a routine may be challenging to start.  That's why we're sharing our overnight oat recipe with you this week!  Overnight oats are filled with nutrients and fiber, and they keep you full.  The best part, they can be dressed up differently to please the whole family!  For every one serving, combine:

1/2 cup old-fashioned oats

1/2 cup milk of your choice

1 tbsp chia seeds

1 tbsp honey

Mix the base of the oats together and allow to sit overnight.  Just before serving, add any additional flavors to spruce them up!  Some of our go-to favorites are:

Banana & peanut butter

Fresh berries and granola

Greek yogurt and cinnamon

The base of the oats will hold for up to 4 days, so feel free to make a large batch at the beginning of the week.  Individual servings can be placed into mason jars for easy on-the-go eating!

At some point, the business needs you to lead differently than what got you here.
When I stepped into the President role, I thought I understood what the responsibility would require. I had spent years inside the business, starting as a retail and marketing specialist and growing through multiple leadership roles to SVP. I knew how the business worked. I knew the people. I knew how to carry responsibility. What I hadn’t fully grasped was how much I would need to change. The ...
A quick note about the Pulse
I want to share something with you about this space, about The Pulse. In a world where I’m constantly told to write shorter captions, be more edgy, create more scroll-stopping hooks, and chase attention on social media…this is not that space. And that’s intentional. I believe part of what’s happening in our businesses and on our teams right now is that we’re losing perspective in all the noise....
When Leadership Feels Full: How Modern Leaders Choose What Matters Most
Hi friends, It's only two full weeks into the new year, and for many people, things already feel full. Some of that fullness is exciting and motivating.New ideas. Momentum.  Building what's next. And some of it feels like you never quite get to put things down. Not busy in the "wow, I'm getting so much done" way, but full in the too many things pulling at you at once way. The kind of full where...
