Shift from Hustle to Momentum

Keep Building Without Burning Out

The pressure to do more can easily pull you into hustle mode, where every day feels like an endless race.  But here's the truth: success doesn't come from simply doing more.  It comes from maintaining strategic momentum.  The most successful leaders I work with today are taking a new approach to leading and living, they aren't hustling harder - they're moving smarter.  And you can too.

Momentum vs. Hustle

Think about it: hustling, especially after the wrong things, leads to exhaustion, burnout, and often a feeling of constantly being behind.  Momentum, on the other hand, is built on intentional focus, consistent progress, and a clear understanding of where your efforts will yield the greatest return.  Momentum isn't about pushing harder; it's about working smarter, finding flow, and moving toward success while enjoying the journey.

The last couple of weeks we have defined what is most important to you and identified your own unique superpowers so you can set your goals for the coming months and years.

To keep that momentum on those goals along the way, focus on these three key strategies:

1.) Visualize Success: visualization can significantly boost your momentum.  According to research, participants who practiced visualization showed an increased motivation and likelihood of achieving their goals by 47%.  Visualization is used by high performers across many fields because it helps clarify the path forward and keeps you focused on the outcome.

- Start visualizing what you future will look like once you have accomplished your goals and spend 5 minutes each morning by closing your eyes and seeing yourself in that picture.

2.) Build Consistent Habits and Routines: progress happens with consistency, not sporadic bursts of effort.  By building daily habits around the actions that support your goals, you make progress automatic.

- A consistent routine of wellness, priortization and setting aside time for focused work will keep your momentum going long after the initial excitement fades.

3.) Conduct Regular Progress Reviews: Regular reviews keep you focused and allow you to celebrate small wins, which boosts motivation.

- Take time each week or month to review your progress.  Assess what's working, identify areas for improveent, and adjust your strategy if necessary.

Always make sure to adjust and stay flexible.  As you work toward your goals, stay open to change.  Life doesn't always follow the plan, and that's okay.  Flexibility allows you to pivot when necessary without losing sight of the bigger picture.  Being adaptable ensures that you keep momentum even when circumstances shift or new opportunities arise.

With the right focus and these strategies in place, you'll enter 2025 already ahead.  Strategic mometum is the ticket to achieving more than you thought possible but doing so in a way that feels fulfilling and sustainable.

A bonus thought... Consider the Future You're Shaping

Take a moment to consider what your life will look like a year from now if you don't focus on what really matters.  Will you be stuck in the same cycle, always busy but not feeling any closer to your true goals?  The time to shape and define your future is now.  You have the power to build a life and career on your own terms.  By focusing on what truly matters today, you create the future you want tomorrow.  Don't leave it to chance, your employer or anyone else - take ownership of it.  We are rooting yu on and here to help at any time.

The Benefits of Eating Seasonal

The cool and crisp air brings some of the best produce around!  From apples to pumpkin and squash, there's so many hearty sweet and savory dishes available.  As the seasons change, it's important we shift our focus to what is accessible to us.  Not only does seasonal produce taste best, but it provides so many other benefits.

The produce in season can vary depending on your location, but in the fall months (like October), you can typically find:

Apples: harvested in various varieties, apples can be transformed into everything from classic pies to fresh cider.  Their versatility makes them a staple in both sweet and savory recipes.

Pumpkins: not just for decoration, pumpkins are rich in nutrients and can be used in soups, breads, and desserts.  Their creamy texture adds warmth to any dish.

Squash: varieties like butternut and acorn squash are perfect for roasting or mashing.  They bring a natural sweetness that pairs well with spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.

Root vegetables: carrots, beets, and sweet potatoes are at their peak.  These vegetables are not only delicious but also hearty, making them ideal for comforting stews and casseroles.

Brussels sprouts: often overlooked, these little green gems are packed with flavor and can be roasted to perfection, bringing out a nutty essence.

Always check your local markets or farms to see what's freshest in your area!  In addition to being readily available, eating produce that is in season offers several benefits:

Peak flavor: seasonal fruits and vegetables are often picked at their peak ripeness, which enhances their flavor and nutritional value.

Nutritional quality: in-season produce is typically fresher and retains more nutrients compared to out-of-season items, which may have been stored for longer periods.

More cost-effective: seasonal produce is often more abundant, which can lower prices at markets and grocery stores.

Better environmental impact: eating in-season often means supporting local agriculture and reducing the carbon footprint associated with transporting out-of-season produce from far away.  It can also promote sustainable farming practices as it aligns with natural growing cycles.

Improved variety: following the seasons encourages a diverse diet, as you'll be trying new fruits and vegetables throughout the year.

Overall, choosing seasonal produce can lead to a more enjoyable and environmentally friendly eating experience!

When your team isn't stepping up, here's where I'd start
I think it’s worth starting with what happened Friday night. I was just fascinated by the magnitude of it. It is hard not to get a little emotional and full of pride watching the four astronauts come home from Artemis II and thinking about what they accomplished together. I found myself glued to the TV Friday night, just taking it in.  While I know there will be a lot said about a moment like t...
Growth isn't the problem, this is
Growth gets a lot of attention.  What it does to leaders and teams gets far less. Growth doesn’t break most businesses. It exposes the gaps that were already there. The business is moving. There’s progress. But underneath it, things start to feel heavier than they should.  Things take longer than they should. And you’re working while everyone else is out playing—golf, pickleball, family outings, ...
When Teams Stop Taking Ownership: A leadership playbook for building accountability
The impact of leadership decisions often shows up first in teams.Sometimes in confidence and momentum.  Sometimes in hesitation. In conversations with leaders recently, one frustration keeps surfacing: "My team just isn't taking ownership."   And what makes it frustrating is that most of these leaders care deeply about their people and are working incredibly hard to move the business forward.The...
