Building Momentum for 2025
Harvest Wins Now to Build Momentum in the New Year
Reflect on What's Working: Discovering Your OWN unique Superpowers
As we approach the end of 2024, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what’s been working in your life and career. Often, we’re so focused on moving forward that we forget to celebrate the progress we’ve already made. Success does leave clues —big and small—these have shaped your journey.
But let’s go a step further. Think back to times when you’ve felt truly “on fire”—when things clicked, and you felt unstoppable. By examining these peak moments, you can start to uncover patterns that reveal your unique superpowers. These strengths and traits come naturally to you and give you an edge as you move forward. Here’s how to recognize and harness them:
- Identify Patterns in Your Wins: Reflect on the moments when you felt most energized and engaged. What was happening? Maybe you excel when leading a team, or you thrive on tackling complex challenges.
- Reflecting on these patterns helps you understand your strengths and identify the situations where you're most effective. Once you see these patterns, you can start to intentionally recreate them, setting yourself up for more wins in the future.
- Reframe Failures as Successes: Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx, credits much of her success to reframing failure. She says, "My dad encouraged us to fail. Growing up, he would ask us what we failed at that week. If we didn't have something, he'd be disappointed. It changed my mindset at an early age that failure is not the outcome - failure is not trying. Don't be afraid to fail."
- By viewing failure as an opportunity rather than a setback, you can see each challenge as a stepping stone to growth. Reflect on how you've handled tough situations in the past. What strengths did you lean on? Embracing these moments as successes helps you reveal qualities that can turn obstacles into opportunities.
- Recognize Growth in Tough Times: Often, it's during challenging periods that our superpowers shine the brightest. Reflect on how you've navigated difficult situations. Did you rely on resilience, creativity, or problem-solving?
- These qualities are not just reactions; they're core aspects of who you are. Embracing them will help you stay centered and resilient, no matter what challenges come your way. Knowing that you have these tools within you builds confidence and helps you find calm in the chaos.
- When you're clear on your superpowers, you have a foundation to anchor yourself, even when things feel out of control. This clarity allows you to stay focused and purposeful, no matter how chaotic the situation. Your strengths are your "home base"- the place you can return to when everything else feels overwhelming.
Every experience—whether a win, a challenge, or a perceived failure—leaves clues that can reveal your unique strengths. Reflecting on these moments helps you understand how to use your superpowers to thrive in the face of chaos and find purpose in your progress. Next week, we’ll explore how to further tap into these strengths and turn them into tools for defining what is most important to you so you advance the RIGHT goals and and confidently step into 2025 with a clear vision.
Here’s to celebrating your own unique superpowers and setting yourself up for your best year yet!

How Saying "No" Positively Affects Your Mental Health
The holidays are just around the corner and we can all quickly feel our calendars filling up. While it's important to cherish our loved ones and show thanks for all that we're blessed with, this time of year can easily become overwhelming. While we all have the best intentions, it is important to remember that saying "no" or setting parameters for an event does not need to be a negative thing. In fact, giving ourself the grace to listen to our bodies and tune in to our needs is something we should go into the New Year embodying.
Saying no can be incredibly empowering for your mental health and unfortunately not something that we do enough of. Check-out some tips on why you should introduce this standard into your life in a way that you're comfortable:
1.) Protect your boundaries
- Setting boundaries helps prevent overwhelm and burnout, allowing you to prioritize your own needs.
- Saying no reinforces your self-worth and reminds you that your time and energy are valuable.
2.) Reduce your stress
- By declining requests that don't align with your priorities, you minimize stress and maintain a more manageable schedule.
- A lighter load can lead to improved focus and mental clarity, helping you engage more fully in the activities you do choose.
3.) Showing up to events when you're actually excited too encourages authenticity
- Saying no allows you to stay true to yourself and your values, leading to more fulfilling experiences.
- It fosters healthier relationships where communication is open and honest, and where your needs are acknowledged.
4.) It allows you to feel empowered
- Each time you say no, you reinforce your ability to make choices that are right for you, building confidence in your decision-making.
- This practice helps cultivate resilience, making it easier to navigate future challenges.
5.) Allows for self-care
- Saying no gives you more time to engage in self-care activities that nourish your mental and emotional well-being.
- It allows space for rest, which is crucial for mental health and overall well-being.
Tips for Saying "No":
- Be Direct and Kind: You don’t have to provide lengthy explanations. A simple, polite refusal is often enough.
- Offer Alternatives: If you feel comfortable, suggest a different time or way to help that fits your capacity.
- Practice Assertiveness: Build your assertiveness by practicing how to say no in various scenarios.
Remember, saying no is a skill that takes practice, but it can significantly enhance your mental health and overall well-being.
