Why Summer Is *Your* Time

Follow Us!

You don’t have to choose between slowing down and moving forward.

So many are checking out.
What if you dialed in without missing the joy?

This time of year, I hear it from so many leaders around me - friends, peers, clients alike:

ā€œSummer is my time to slow down.ā€
ā€œI’m lightening my schedule.ā€
ā€œI’ve taken a step back while the kids are home.ā€

And honestly? I love that.
Yes to vacations. Yes to rest. Yes to space.

But there’s another group of leaders quietly wondering:

ā€œWill I even see summer with everything on my plate?ā€
ā€œThere’s no slowing down, I’ve got too much on the line.ā€
ā€œIf I take my foot off the gas, I’ll lose momentum.ā€

Here’s the the thing:
You don’t have to choose between rest and results.
You can build a rhythm that gives you both.

That’s the shift we’re making inside the Modwellship Collective-
And it’s the shift I’m making in my own life too.

I’m not lightening my schedule.
I’m shifting it.
Leaning into a rhythm that fuels me and fuels this mission, this season.

ā˜€ļø I’m working outside more often.
šŸ„• Cooking lighter, eating fresh, and heading to the markets.
🪓 I’m making space to entertain outside - casual, joyful, connected.
šŸŒ… I’m still up early - those mornings ground me in every season.
āœˆļø I’m taking a trip but not because it’s summer. I build in breaks year-round.
Because rest isn’t seasonal - it’s essential.

When the mission calls you, you want to keep rolling.
But how you roll? That’s what makes all the difference.

We’re not doing summer the old way.

We’re:

  • Designing flexible rhythms that support our lives

  • Protecting our energy so we show up fully

  • Setting up Q3 success while others hit pause and scramble later

Here are 3 Big Ideas to Build Your Summer Rhythm:

1. Rhythm > Routine

Rigid routines crack under summer’s weight - travel, kids, weather, energy shifts.
Rhythms flex with your life and keep you moving forward without burnout.

→ Anchor your week with 3 key outcomes. Let the how flex.

2. Energy First, Always

The old way: cram more in.
The modern way: align with your energy, not adrenaline.

→ Protect high-focus windows. Unplug fully once a day. And stop calling rest a luxury, it’s leadership and business fuel.

3. Summer Joy is Strategic

Joy isn’t a bonus. It’s foundational.
To leading well. Living well. Being well.

→ Schedule it like it matters because it does.

This summer is your advantage.

It’s your chance to:

  • Clear the noise that’s been draining your energy

  • Strengthen habits that build Q3 momentum

  • Lead from a place of strategy, not survival

The leaders who win this fall?

They’re not waiting until September to figure it out.
They’re using this season - on their terms.

You can enjoy the season and build something remarkable.
That’s not a myth. That’s modern leadership.

Let's build it.

Eat + Move With the Season: Summer's Natural Reset

In the rhythm of nature, summer is a season of vitality - bright mornings, warm air, vibrant foods, and an open invitation to move your body and fuel your energy in ways that align with the lightness of the season.

At Modwellship, we often talk about leadership through the lens of well-being - and that includes tuning into what your body is naturally asking for this time of year.

🌿Eat With the Season: Let Light Lead

Summer brings an abundance of hydrating, cooling, and brightly colored food - and that's no accident.  Nature offers exactly what our bodies need in this season.  Here's how to lean into it:

  • Go fresh + colorful: Load your plate with in-season fruits and veggies like berries, cucumbers, tomatoes, leafy greens, and watermelon.
  • Hydrate often: Think beyond water - herbal teas, citrus-infused water, and hydrating foods help beat the heat and support energy.
  • Lighten your meals: Heavy, slow-digesting meals can weigh you down in the heat.  Try more raw veggies, chilled soups, grain bowls, and lighter proteins like fish or legumes.

Summer is a great time to ask: What foods leave me feeling light, energized, and clear-headed?  Choose more of those.

This season is nature's reminder to live a little lighter.  Eat for energy, and tune into your body with curiosity instead of control.

Let this be a season where wellness doesn't feel like work - it just feels like you.

At some point, the business needs you to lead differently than what got you here.
When I stepped into the President role, I thought I understood what the responsibility would require. I had spent years inside the business, starting as a retail and marketing specialist and growing through multiple leadership roles to SVP. I knew how the business worked. I knew the people. I knew how to carry responsibility. What I hadn’t fully grasped was how much I would need to change. The ...
A quick note about the Pulse
I want to share something with you about this space, about The Pulse. In a world where I’m constantly told to write shorter captions, be more edgy, create more scroll-stopping hooks, and chase attention on social media…this is not that space. And that’s intentional. I believe part of what’s happening in our businesses and on our teams right now is that we’re losing perspective in all the noise....
