Living "Someday" Now
As modern leaders, we’re carrying a lot—big missions, fast-changing demands, teams relying on us—all while wanting to enjoy the lives we’ve worked so hard to build.
The danger? Waiting for “someday” to really live.
That’s been on my mind since last newsletter when I shared why this is the age of resilience, about standing steady in your vision and voice when everything around you shifts.
Resilience is more than bouncing back, it’s about anchoring in who you are so you can move forward with clarity, no matter the circumstances.
And that brings me back to something personal I shared on socials this week.
Seven Years Ago, We Bet on a Dream
We bought a house on 10 acres, complete with a root cellar, outdoor spaces, and a small lake out back. The listing even said: “this place is magic.”
At the time, both of us were steady in our careers. I thought I’d be in my role for another 10 years, helping investors grow the business. But life shifted—new jobs, COVID, unexpected challenges.
Some seasons, I was so focused on carrying the weight of my team and rebuilding after COVID that I almost missed the very life I had dreamed of creating.
That experience taught me something important:
👉 Life isn’t meant to be lived “someday.” It’s meant to be lived now.
And to do that, I had to shift my identity. Not wrapped up in a title, a role, or even a property, but in me.
How to Make an Identity Shift (and Lead Modern)
Here are four things that helped me and can help you if you’re ready to stop living for someday and start living now:
-
Get clear on your own words.
Ask yourself:-
Who am I becoming?
-
How do I want to be described by those I lead and serve?
-
What do I love to do and where am I uniquely skilled?
-
How do I want to live?
(And yes, coaching can help here. It’s not about being told what to do—it’s about uncovering what’s already in you.)
-
-
Level up where it matters.
Once you have generated clarity, invest in learning the skills that match where you want to go. Growth isn’t about fixing weaknesses, it’s about fueling your vision. -
Write a manifesto.
Map out how you want to live and what a dream day looks like. Your manifesto becomes a compass, aligning daily choices with the bigger life you’re creating. -
Define your non-negotiables.
These protect your energy, your joy, and your vision. Without them, it’s too easy to slip back into waiting for “someday.”
For me, that means:-
Staying close to family
-
Taking care of myself first
-
Taking real vacations and downtime
-
Only working on projects and with people aligned with my values
-
Creating space to enjoy the life I’ve built
-
Try This
Take 5 minutes this week to sketch out your dream day.
Then ask: What’s one piece of that day I could live now, not someday?
Write down your top 3 non-negotiables too and keep them visible. They’re not selfish. They’re what make your resilience—and your leadership—sustainable.
Why This Matters
Modern leadership isn’t about waiting until things calm down to live.
It’s about leading something big and living fully today.
When you’re anchored in your identity:
-
Decisions become easier.
-
Joy isn’t postponed.
-
And you lead with a presence that inspires others to do the same.
So as you head into the week, ask yourself:
👉 Am I living for someday—or am I living it now?
Because everything around you may shift.
But you, your clarity, your skills, your vision—will carry you forward anywhere.

Seasonal Nutrition Swaps
As we move into fall, one of the easiest ways to support your health is to let the season guide your plate. Seasonal produce isn't just fresher and more flavorful - it often comes with the exact nutrients your body needs this time of year.
A few simple swaps you can make this month:
- Sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes -> more fiber and vitamin A to support immunity.
- Apples instead of processed snacks -> natural sweetness plus steady energy.
- Roasted squash instead of pasta -> hearty, satisfying, and packed with antioxidants.
- Pumpkin instead of cream in soups -> creamy texture with fewer calories and more nutrients
- Brussels sprouts instead of lettuce -> seasonal crunch with extra vitamins and minerals.
These swaps don't require an overhaul - just small changes that bring more nourishment (and flavor) to your routine. Consider this your invitation to bring fall onto your plate this week.

We're creating a brand-new mini-course:
Vision-to-Action: Your 2026 Map.
It’s designed to help you get clear on where you want to be in 2026, identify the skills that will take you there, and map them into 90-day sprints you can start now.
If this sounds like you, this course is for you:
-
You’re working harder than ever but not sure it’s moving you forward.
-
You know you need a clearer vision but don’t have time to figure it out.
-
Everything around you keeps shifting, and you want a steady, doable plan.
-
You don’t want to wait until “someday” to live and lead the way you want.
To give you a head start, I’ve put together a simple worksheet that builds on today’s newsletter.
👉 Use it to sketch your ideal day, define your non-negotiables, and begin shaping your bigger vision.
Reply "send it" and we'll send it over.
This is the work of modern leaders. You are meant to do things that light you up and make a real difference.
