The Leadership Unlock You Can't Afford to Ignore

I see it again and again, leaders who are sharp, driven, and capable... but running on empty.

They're just getting through the day.  They feel off.  Results are harder to obtain than they should be.  Leading feels frustrating instead of inspiring.  And worst of all?  They know they're not showing up for their families the way they should.

They're often mentally and physically drained, stuck in a cycle of fatigue where leadership feels more like a struggle than an opportunity to create impact.  And when your energy is low, everything feels harder:

➡️Decision-making slows down.

➡️Clarity gets foggy.

➡️Presence fades in meetings.

➡️Impact diminishes.

Energy is the key unlock.

When Leaders Get This Right, Everything Changes

When our clients start prioritzing their energy, it impacts every area of their life and leadership.

✔️They start moving more.

✔️They get better sleep.

✔️They make better food choices.

✔️They show up with more presence.

And here's the thing, when you feel good, you're better to others, you make better decisions, and you inspire those around you.

You'll also have more fun.  You'll feel the day instead of just getting through it.  You'll take the next best steps in your business and life.

Your teams need you at your best.  It's fun working for a leader who prioritizes their health.  It creates a ripple effect - when you take care of yourself, you set the tone for everyone else.  A leader who has energy is magnetic.  People want to be part of that energy, and it transforms not just you, but your entire team.

The Data Speaks for Itself:

Retention Risk: 40% of stressed-out leaders have considered leaving their roles to improve their well-being.  (HR Dive, 2024)
Well-Being and Productivity: Leaders who prioritize wellness drive higher productivity and retention. (Reworked, 2024)

Energy & Leadership Impact: 65% of leaders feel stretched too thin, which directly affects their team's productivity and morale.(Quixy, 2024)

Try This: Energy Check-In

On a scale of 1 to 10, how are you feeling today?  Be honest.

Now ask yourself: What's one thing you can do to move up just one notch?

➡️Maybe it's stepping away from your desk for 10 minutes.

➡️Maybe it's drinking more water or getting outside.

➡️Maybe it's ending the day without checking emails at night.

You'll lead better and live better when you prioritize your energy.  Show up for yourself first, and you'll lead with more clarity, confidence, and impact.

Your teams will notice.  And so will your family.

It's such a win-win.  If you want to support with this, I've got you  Let's make it happen together.

Rest & Recharge: Sleep Your Way to a Healthier Heart

As we close out Heart Health Month, it's essential to highlight one of the most often overlooked pillars of heart health: sleep.  While we often focus on diet and exercise, quality sleep is just as crucial for a strong, healthy heart.  In fact, research shows that poor sleep habits can increase the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke.  But don't worry - there's good news!  With just a few adjustments to your routine and sleep environment, you can improve your rest and support your cardiovascular health.  Let's explore the connection between sleep and heart health, and offer some practical tips to help you sleep better and wake up stronger.

The Heart-Sleep Connection

Sleep is when your body has the opportunity to repair and rejuvenate.  During deep sleep, your heart rate and blood pressure drop, allowing your cardiovascular system to recover.  However, poor sleep can disrupt these processes and contribute to inflammation, increased stressed levels, and other factors that put extra strain on your heart.  Studies have also linked sleep apnea with a higher risk of heart disease.  Getting quality, uninterrupted sleep helps regulate your body's vital functions, ensuring that your heart is getting the rest it needs.

Tips for Improving Sleep Habits

1.) Stick to a Sleep Schedule: Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day (even on the weekends) helps regulate your body's internal clock, making it easier to fall asleep and wake up refreshed.

2.) Create a Relaxing Bedtime Routine: Engage in calming activities like reading, meditating, or practicing deep breathing before bed.  Avoid stimulating activities, such as using electronic devices or watching intense TV shows, as they can interfere with your ability to wind down.

3.) Limit Caffeine and Alcohol: Both caffeine and alcohol can disrupt our sleep cycles.  Aim to avoid these at least 4-6 hours before bedtime to give your body the best chance for restful sleep.

4.) Optimize Your Sleep Environment: Your bedroom should be a sanctuary for relaxation.  Keep it cool, quiet, and dark, as this promotes deeper sleep.  Consider investing in a comfortable mattress and pillows that support a healthy sleeping position.  White noise machines or earplugs can help block out distracting sounds.

5.) Get Moving During the Day: Regular physical activity helps promote deep sleep, but try to avoid vigorous exercise too close to bedtime, as it may make falling asleep harder.

The Role of Sleep in a Heart-Healthy Lifestyle

When combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise, quality sleep supports all aspects of heart health.  It strengthens the body's immune system, helps manage stress, and aids in weight management - all factors that reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.

As we wrap up Heart Health Month, remember that taking care of your heart isn't just about the gym or eating more vegetables.  Prioritize your sleep, create a soothing nighttime routine, and nurture your heart with the restful recharge it needs.

At some point, the business needs you to lead differently than what got you here.
When I stepped into the President role, I thought I understood what the responsibility would require. I had spent years inside the business, starting as a retail and marketing specialist and growing through multiple leadership roles to SVP. I knew how the business worked. I knew the people. I knew how to carry responsibility. What I hadn’t fully grasped was how much I would need to change. The ...
A quick note about the Pulse
I want to share something with you about this space, about The Pulse. In a world where I’m constantly told to write shorter captions, be more edgy, create more scroll-stopping hooks, and chase attention on social media…this is not that space. And that’s intentional. I believe part of what’s happening in our businesses and on our teams right now is that we’re losing perspective in all the noise....
